Quell Caps - Our Custom Weight Loss Formulation

I’m so excited to discuss our Quell Caps today. This formulation is one of those I feel personally about – one of those I call, “my baby.”

Quell Caps have two tried and true ingredients: phentermine and topiramate. When taken in a specific combination, they’ve been clinically proven to result in up to 11% weight loss.

Phentermine works by appetite suppression and while topiramate’s mechanism for weight loss is less clear, it is thought to affect appetite suppression and causes a feeling of fullness or satiety. That’s not all. This is where I get excited, and where the compounding comes in.

It is already necessary to titrate (or to start with a low dose and to slowly increase the dose over time) with the phentermine/topiramate combination. Guess what other medication we must do this for? Low dose naltrexone (LDN)! LDN also has a positive impact on inflammation, weight loss, depression, and auto-immune conditions. If you have read any of my previous blogs (if you haven’t you should 😊), you’ll know that if you are overweight, you are inflamed.

Our custom weight loss formulation, Quell Caps, includes a titration of all three: phentermine, topiramate, and low dose naltrexone. In our Crave Away formulation, we were using a mid-dose of naltrexone to block the endorphin rush of emotional eating, whereas in Quell Caps, we are using an LDN titration - a truly LOW dose of naltrexone to actually stimulate more endorphins, those feel good chemicals, we produce on our own.

Also, it is known that if you are overweight, your are metabolically inflamed, termed “metaflammation.” LDN specifically targets inflammation by reducing inflammatory cytokines or messengers. I’m not going to get into exactly how this works, as this is supposed to be a fun, easy read, but just trust me! If you are really interested, it’s TLR4 antagonism! That’s your pharmacology and immunology word of the day!
