Trying to Conceive Lingo

Navigating the “trying-to-conceive” (aka TTC) world can be a crash-course in foreign-sounding words and a litany of abbreviations.  We’re here to help break it down and make it understandable.

To understand fertility, let’s dive in to how the body gets pregnant:

Once each cycle, about halfway between two menstrual periods, one egg matures and is released to reach a sperm within the female reproductive organs.  If the egg is fertilized, it can implant and develop over the next 38 weeks into a full-term baby.

That’s a simplified view of the process, but let’s look at the words you might hear or see in a doctor’s office or online forum.
